List of countries you can visit under new air bridge plan

A list of the countries Brits will be able to visit under Government plans to be announced on Thursday has appeared online.

A new traffic light system will designate countries as green for safe, amber for caution needed and red for unsafe.

The list of countries with the full rules will be officially revealed tomorrow - showing where you can go on holiday this summer without facing quarantine.

According to The Sun, the list will see Austria, Barbados, Croatia, Germany, New Zealand, Thailand and Greece ranked as green with Spain, Australia, Belgium and Italy on the amber list.

The Sun reports that the two colours will cover every European nation - with talks still ongoing with some nations - including France.

Greece has currently extended its ban to UK flights until July 15.

Portugal remains uncertain because of a recent surge in infection rates - while it has today reopened its land border with Spain.

The new rules will come into force next week.

People who have travelled to the UK from countries deemed at red risk under the traffic light system will still have to self-isolate on their arrival back in the UK.

All travellers arriving from abroad will have to supply contact information so they can be traced by health officials if someone they have been near, for example on a plane, displays symptoms or tests positive for Covid-19.

The Foreign Secretary has agreed that travel advice can be eased in countries and territories where the public health risk is no longer ‘unacceptably high’ and therefore advice ‘against non-essential travel’ can be lifted.

Travel advice decisions will be separate from the decisions made on air bridges.
