List of Bristol Pride's four-hour road closures this Saturday

Bristol Pride is returning to Bristol this Saturday, bringing a host of exciting events for revellers.

People will be starting to make plans on where they can go to get a good view of the parade as it passes through the city centre. But as with any large event, there are some road closures during the day that could affect travel.

While there are no road closures around the festival site on the downs, there are a few for the Pride march. The two-mile walk will start on Lower Castle Street by Castle Park, before making its way through the shopping quarter via the Horsefair, up Union Street before turning onto Wine Street.

The route will then continue up to Millennium Square via Baldwin Street, Anchor Road and Cannon Road before going through Wapping Wharf.

On its website, Pride organisers have explained that the parade is walking only and not open to vehicles or floats. They said: “Please note that Bristol Pride is a walking parade. We do not allow vehicles or floats in the parade due to the nature of our route, health and safety and to support reduced city centre emissions.”

With the parade planned to set off at 10:45am, roads around the route are set to be cut off to traffic - meaning getting to and from the centre could prove to be a bit tricky. Organisers hope to reach Millennium Square in around an hour but just in case road closures will be in place from around 10am to 2pm in the afternoon.

The closures won’t just affect taxis and people driving into the city, they will also cause slight disruption to the usual bus timetables.

Stagecoach has released an update on their website reminding customers of the road closures in place and how their services may be affected. They said: “We would like to bring to your attention that there are road closures scheduled within Central Bristol on the 8th of July, starting at 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM for the Pride March. These closures will impact service 9 and as a result, a diversion has been arranged, starting from Hotwells Road.”

First Bus has also shared a list of services affected and what their diversion routes will be on their website. They said: Various roads in and around Central Bristol and Broadmead will be closed between 09:30 and 14:00 (estimated) on Saturday 8th July to facilitate this year's Pride Parade. Whilst these closures are in place the following diversions will apply. Please note these diversions may be subject to change depending on events on the day and there will be extra Inspectors on duty to assist you.”
