List of 27 European destinations exempt from Scotland's quarantine rules

Scots holidaymakers had their options for a summer getaway limited last night after the Scottish Government added more foreign countries to its growing no-go list.

People arriving from France, Netherlands, Monaco, Malta, Turks & Caicos and Aruba will all now need to self-isolate for 14 days upon their return to Scotland.

All of those countries join Andorra, The Bahamas, Belgium, Spain and Luxembourg on the same list.

But Scots can still travel to a number of European destinations without having to quarantine on their return.

Nicola Sturgeon has previously urged Scots to be cautious when looking into booking a holiday (PA)

There may be restrictions imposed on arrival to some of the foreign countries.

Greece still remains on the list countries exempt from the quarantine rules, despite reported 262 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday.

Germany also recorded its biggest daily increase in more than three months with 1,200 new cases over the same 24-hour period.

Nicola Sturgeon previously said that she would not book a foreign holiday right now and urged Scots to be ‘very cautious’ when considering booking a trip abroad.

She said: “You don’t know that if you’re in a country they may change their regulations and you might find yourself restricted in that country, and then when you come home you might find that the quarantine rules have changed here.

“Unfortunately that’s the nature of what we’re dealing with right now, so I want to be really blunt and clear with people."
