Lisburn petrol bomb attack: Resident inside escapes injury

Detectives are appealing for information after a petrol bomb was reportedly thrown at a flat in Lisburn.

It was around 1.30am on Tuesday (June 29) when police received the report, indicating that the front door of a flat, thought to have been hit by a petrol bomb, was on fire.

Officers rushed to the property in the Moira Park area of Lisburn, along with staff from Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service, who extinguished the blaze.

"Significant damage" was caused to the door, PSNI confirmed. The occupant was home at the time but was left uninjured.

Detectives issued an appeal to the public for help later that morning.

A statement from PSNI said: “This fire could, of course, have resulted in serious injuries, even loss of life – and could easily have spread to the adjoining properties.
