Lisburn crash claims life of 57-year-old motorcyclist

A motorcyclist has died following a collision with a car on the Ballylesson Road, outside Lisburn yesterday.

The emergency services were called to the incident at the junction of Mill Road yesterday at around 2.10pm, following reports that a silver Kawasaki motorcycle had collided with a white Hyundai car.

Sadly the 57-year-old rider of the  motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger on board the motorcycle was also taken to hospital for treatment, along with the passenger and driver of the car as a precaution.

A stretch of the Hillhall Road was closed yesterday while police carried out investigations at the scene, but it has now reopened.

Inspector Darren Hardy, of the PSNI, has appealed for anyone who may have witnessed the collision or captured what had occurred on dashcam to get in touch with them.

He said:  "We are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have captured what occurred on their dash cam, to get in touch with us by calling 101, quoting reference number 971 of 20/06/20."

The family of the deceased have requested that no further details about their loved one be made available at this tragic time.
