A former friend of Lisa Smith said her religion brought out the worst in the “arrogant” ISIS bride.
Carol Duffy believes the Co Louth woman will not be welcome back to a mosque in her home town.
Ms Duffy, who grew up in Muirhevnamore in Dundalk, close to the home of the Smith family, struck up a friendship with the terror suspect when helping her convert to Islam in 2011.
She said: “I liked her, she was a nice girl but sometimes when people come to religion, it brings out the best in them, but in Lisa’s case, it brought out the worst.
“She became arrogant, self-centred, she was arguing about everything. She had militant ideas. It was the Muslims against everyone else, this is what she started doing.”
Ms Duffy said their friendship ended in 2012 when she spoke to Lisa about her behaviour.
Speaking to RTE, she added: “ISIS are not boy scouts. This is not a club where you go and enjoy yourself.
“People were killed and murdered. Women are sold off like cattle. Children are married off.
“People don’t want her here.”
