Lisa Marie Presley 'destroyed by son's suicide' but kept going for 'her girls'

Lisa Marie Presley was 'destroyed' by her son Benjamin Keough's suicide but kept going for her daughters.

Benjamin took his own life in July 2020 at the age of just 27, leaving Lisa 'heartbroken, inconsolable and beyond devastated,' sources said at the time.

He was found unresponsive in the bathroom of his mother's home in California during a party celebrating his girlfriend Diana Pinto's birthday in 2020.

Emergency services were called and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lisa tried her best to stay strong for her twin daughters Finley and Harper Lockwood, 14, and Riley Keough, 33.

Several months before her death at the age of 54, Lisa penned a heartbreaking essay about grief for National Grief Awareness Day.

In the essay, she discussed her pain, the blame she felt, and how lonely she felt in her grieving.

Lisa, who was Elvis Presley's only child, wrote: "It's a real choice to keep going, one that I have to make every single day and one that is constantly challenging to say the least ... But I keep going for my girls.

"I keep going because my son made it very clear in his final moments that taking care of his little sisters and looking out for them were on the forefront of his concerns and his mind. He absolutely adored them and they him."

She added for People : "My and my three daughters' lives as we knew it was completely detonated and destroyed by his death. We live in this every. Single. Day."

Lisa candidly confessed she would "beat myself up tirelessly" following his death and often blamed herself. But she went on to say it's important people are able to lean on others for support.

And now, after confirming her death, Lisa's mother Priscilla Presley paid tribute to her 'beautiful daughter'.

Lisa suffered a cardiac arrest on Thursday and was put into an induced coma as medics desperately tried to save her.

However, despite the efforts of hospital staff, the only daughter of the legendary King of Rock n Roll died shortly after.

In a short statement, Priscilla said: "It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us.

"She was the most passionate strong and loving woman I have ever known. We ask for privacy as we try to deal with this profound loss. Thank you for the love and prayers. At this time there will be no further comment."
