In terms of 2021s most eagerly-anticipated shows, it's arguable that HBO Max's upcoming Friends special which reunites the cast of the beloved sitcom is one of the shows that people are the most excited to see.
However, those plans were originally halted after the pandemic delayed plans to shoot the untitled and unscripted special last year.
Thankfully, we don't have to wait too long to see the return of Central Perk's most famous customers.
While the upcoming reunion special isn't a new episode, it will be the first time that Lisa Kudrow, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer and Matt LeBlanc have all been in the same room since the show ended in May 2004.
During a recent interview on Rob Lowe’s Literally! podcast, Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe) revealed that the project is already underway and that the producers aim to begin shooting “early, early spring.”
“I pre-shot something for it already, so we’re definitely doing it. It’s us getting together which doesn’t happen a lot and has never happened in front of other people since 2004, when we stopped, ” Kudrow told Lowe.
The actress also said that the reunion special will see the cast come upon “a coffee house room” and other sets that “we have not been in.”
In terms of a format, the reunion episode will feature the cast members reminisce on the popular series. The cast of Friends will executive produce the reunion with Friends creators Kevin Bright, Marta Kauffman and David Crane.
