Lisa Goodwin-Allen joins the Beaumont hotel with plans to replace Colony Grill

The chef Lisa Goodwin-Allen has joined Mayfair’s five-star Beaumont hotel as its culinary director, with plans to open a new restaurant there later in the year.

The announcement sees Goodwin-Allen working once again with the hotel’s CEO Stuart Proctor; the pair were both previously at the Stafford Hotel in St James’s.

Alongside executive chef Brendan Fyldes, Goodwin-Allen will oversee the entire hotel’s food operation and will also launch Rosi, a seasonal British restaurant that will replace the Beaumont’s somewhat ill-fated, New York-style Colony Grill. The room will undergo a renovation, launching with an entirely new menu and identity.

Goodwin-Allen is best known as the longstanding chef of Michelin-starred Lancashire restaurant Northcote, where she has worked for the past 23 years, albeit with a month’s break earlier this year. She will be a familiar face to Masterchef viewers, as a regular judge on the show, and is often a guest on James Martin's Saturday Morning.

She said of her appointment at the Beaumont: “I am delighted to be joining the team at The Beaumont Mayfair and to be working with Stuart again in this next chapter of my career.

“With the launch of Rosi in the autumn and other exciting projects in the pipeline, I look forward to working with Brendan and the kitchen brigade to create menus that embrace seasonality and showcase the very best British ingredients, as well as collaborating on the overall F&B direction of the hotel. Together I know we will deliver exceptional dining experiences to our guests.”

“We are thrilled to have Lisa joining us at The Beaumont. She is an exceptional chef and having known and worked with her for many years, I have no doubt that her passion and expertise will elevate our food offering to even higher standards,” Proctor said of the news. “Lisa is joining the team at a very exciting time.

“She will play an integral role in the launch of our new restaurant, as well as other exciting projects we have coming up.”

More information regarding Rosi is expected to be announced over the summer.
