Lisa Fowler and Phil Mitchell's deadly feud on EastEnders after dramatic return

EastEnders aired the long-awaited return of Lisa Fowler this week, amid dramatic scenes on the BBC soap.

Lisa and ex Phil Mitchell, the father of her daughter Louise, were reunited once more promising tense scenes for viewers.

The characters go way back, and have been embroiled in a deadly feud for years, leaving poor Lou caught in the middle.

But what exactly happened between the former couple, and what were the biggest moments in their history as they're forced to reconnect for the sake of their daughter?

Way back in 1999, Lisa, played by Lucy Benjamin, began a romance with Phil - but it wasn't long before things started to go wrong.

Amid storylines around mental and physical abuse, Lisa also learned he had slept with her best mate Mel Owen.

Things turned sour between them, so sour in fact Lisa tried to kill him in 2001 when she shot him on his doorstep as part of the Who Shot Phil? storyline.

The suspect was hidden until Steve McFadden's discovered the truth some months later, before confronting her - only to learn she was pregnant.

Lisa claimed her partner Mark Fowler was the father but Phil eventually figured out he was baby Louise's dad, leading to Lisa's plan to flee the country with her baby daughter to get away from him.

Mel and husband Steve Owen tried to help her, as did Sonia Fowler and her partner Jamie Mitchell, but tragedy struck when a car chase between Steve and Phil led to Steve being killed.

Louise was trapped in Steve's car which burst into flames - moments before, Steve helped Phil rescue Lou before dying in the explosion.

Later on Lisa reunited with Phil only to realise it was a mistake, before she fled Walford with Lou, but it didn't end there.

Off-screen, Phil tracked her down and brought his daughter back to Walford fueling speculation he'd killed Lisa - it was later confirmed this was not the case.

Then in 2010 Lisa returned, and Peggy helped her claim back her daughter after trouble with Phil and his son Ben.

Louise eventually returned to Walford in 2016 wanting to live with her dad and she's been on the soap ever since.

Lisa returned in 2017 as part of a mental health storyline, before being admitted to hospital - now, two years on, she's back again.

EastEnders airs Mondays and Fridays at 8pm, and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
