Lisa Faulkner puts wedding to Masterchef star John Torode on hold

Actress Lisa Faulkner has put her wedding to Masterchef star John Torode on hold because they are both too busy to walk down the aisle.

The pair got together after meeting his TV show in 2010 and John, 53, popped the question on Christmas Day, 2018.

However, Lisa, 47, has revealed there might not be a wedding this year as they are both swamped with work for their new joint TV venture, John And Lisa's Weekend Kitchen.

She told The Sun Online : "I've been so busy with writing and doing the show

"Once I've got Easter out the way I can start planning."

The couple's new cookery series launches at the end of this month and features the pair cooking together and interviewing famous chefs.

She added that she loves working with her husband-to-be.

Lisa said: "It's so nice to travel into work together and chat all day, then continue chatting at home.

"He's my best mate and it's lovely to stand next to him and think he's got me and I've got him."

They became an item in 2012 a year after dad-of-four John separated from wife Jessica and six months after Lisa and EastEnders actor husband Chris Coghill, who have an adopted daughter, split.

Since then Lisa and Aussie-born John have often appeared together on cooking slots for morning TV.

Inside John Torode and Lisa Faulkner's romance as MasterChef star proposes

Lisa told the Mirror: “I feel very lucky. I acted for years then did Celebrity Masterchef and my whole career turned into cooking. Now I’m able to do both so I’m very blessed.” The couple work together just as well at home too.

“It’s really lovely because John’s a brilliant chef and he knows exactly what he’s doing,” said Lisa.

“I came down on Christmas morning and he’d done all the veg.

“I was like, ‘I was going to do the potatoes.’ He said, ‘You roast them as yours are better than mine.’ “I’m like, just fine, you’ve done all the boring peeling – it works pretty well.”

She added of her future husband: “We get on very well – he’s great, he’s my best mate.

“Happy 2019! It’s going to be quite a year and I’m going to embrace every minute.”
