Lisa Eldridge's make up range: a moment the beauty world's been waiting for

Lisa Eldridge, the internationally renowned make-up artist whose super soothing YouTube tutorials have garnered her a whopping 1.8 million followers, has finally launched her first solo makeup line.

Eldridge, who wrote a bestselling book, Face Paint: the story of makeup, in 2015 and launched a line of coloured gemstone rings earlier this year has spent years collaborating with Lancôme on product collections, and even became the brand's creative director back in 2015.

However, despite 25 years of experience in beauty, she had never created her own makeup line. Until Wednesday that is, when the industry veteran announced she would be debuting her first solo venture with a limited edition range of three red lipsticks.

As you can imagine, these are not just any old lipsticks.

Formulated to emulate the exact texture of velvet, the cruelty free lipsticks come in three super flattering red tones; Velvet Morning – a vibrant orangey red, Velvet Jazz – an earthy brick red and Velvet Ribbon – a true neutral, blueish red. They have a lightweight formulation and a saturated colour which promises all-day-long-lasting results without drying the lips.

The idea for the velvet beauties came to Eldridge in a dream. “I often dream about makeup and I dreamt about this product several years ago,” she says. “I always loved the quote by surrealist writer and poet, Andre Breton: “Objects seen in dreams should be manufactured and put on sale’.”

The lipsticks are richly pigmented, and Eldridge recommends either swiping them directly on the lips to give a vibrant, velvet finish or patting them on using your fingertips to give a painterly stained look.

“I really wanted to launch with something which was a collectible one off, something different … and these incredible lipsticks are just that.”

We can’t wait to try them out.

The limited edition holiday collection will launch globally on www.lisaeldridge.com from November 19.

Prices start at £26 for each lipstick or can be purchased as a set with a black velvet pouch for £75.
