Lisa Armstrong's heartbreak as she pays tribute to dad one year after his death

Lisa Armstrong shared some heartbreaking words on the anniversary of her dad Derek's death.

Her father Derek was aged 71 when he lost his battle to cancer last year in May.

The make-up artist took to social media to share a fitting tribute for her dad.

In a gushing tribute, the Strictly behind-the-scenes star remembered Derek as her "hero".

She wrote: "I can’t believe one year has passed, it still seems so unreal...

"Not a day goes by that I don’t miss you, your smile, your laugh, encouragement & most of all your love...

"Will always be Daddy’s girl... My heart broke this day last year.... RIP... MY DAD MY HERO."

Accompanying her warm words, Lisa posted a smiling picture of her dad in a dimly-lit restaurant in happier days.

Lisa was at her father's bed side when he died.

It was an incredibly tough time for the make-up artist as she had split from her ex Ant McPartlin at the time of his diagnosis.

However, the Strictly personality had chosen to keep her dad's cancer diagnosis a secret while her divorce was highly publicised.

A source told The Sun at the time: "A lot of people think Lisa is strong, and she is — but she’s had so much to cope with since she and Ant split up.

"There’s been one thing after another and at times she’s felt on her knees. But she’s kept it together and ploughed on."

A year on, Lisa has now got a mega £31million settlement.

Both Lisa and Ant have shared custody of their beloved Labrador Hurley.
