Lisa Armstrong celebrates New Year with her mum after heartbreaking tribute to dad

Lisa Armstrong celebrated the start of 2020 with her mum after making a heartbreaking tribute to her late father.

The Strictly Come Dancing make up artist was left devastated in May when her beloved dad Derek lost his battle with cancer.

Paying tribute to him as she marked the beginning of the New Year, she said: "Always with me and forever in my heart..... #dad #RIP #Theydaythefirstisthehardest #hurls #ohana"

Lisa, 43, later posed up for a stunning selfie with her mum Linda.

The ladies both smiled as they leaned in close to one another.

Lisa wrote: "Happy New Year everyone from us.... @lindaarmstrong6220 May all you wishes and dreams come true for the most amazing 2020... xx"

Lisa's fans told her they hope she has a happier year ahead of her than the one she's leaving behind.

2019 was a difficult year for Lisa, with her divorcing husband Ant McPartlin, him moving on with their former assistant Anne-Marie Corbett and losing her father.

One told her: "Lovely photo happy new year 2020 will be a better year for you"

Another said: "Hoping 2020 is full of sparkle & lots of great opportunities & also a bit of love . You deserve so much happiness ."

And another commented: "Hope your heart is peaceful in the year to come Lisa. Mine finally is."

Lisa had also shared a picture of her tattoo tribute to her dad.

Her celebrity pals, including comedian Alan Carr, immediately replied back with messages of support.

"Aww bless you! Stay strong!" wrote Alan.

While Lisa's fellow Strictly make-up artist Bryony Blake wrote: "Thinking of you xx" along with a love heart.

Lisa had been at her father Derek's bedside when he died at the age of 71 last year.

The Strictly personality had kept her dad's diagnosis a secret while she endured a very public split with her ex Ant McPartlin.

A source told The Sun at the time: "A lot of people think Lisa is strong, and she is — but she’s had so much to cope with since she and Ant split up.

"There’s been one thing after another and at times she’s felt on her knees. But she’s kept it together and ploughed on."
