Liquidators take control of North Wales hotel

Liquidators have taken control of a North Wales hotel.

Grant Thornton has been appointed as liquidator for the Ambassador Hotel in Llandudno.

It sits in a prominent seafront position in the seaside town and continues to trade under liquidators’ control.

The action by liquidators follows the submission of a winding up order to the High Court by tax chiefs at the HM Revenue and Customs.

The hotel employs 20 people and has 57 bedrooms.

It dates back more than 150 years - previously made up of five separate hotels before they were merged together in the 1980s.

Its directors are now listed as David Williams and Nigel Williams.

Over the summer three Llandudno hotels were placed in administration.

The Llandudno Bay Hotel, Queens Hotel in Llandudno and Belmont Hotel are all currently being run by administrators from Duff & Phelps.

They are owned by Gavin Woodhouse's company Northern Powerhouse Developments. All the hotels continue to trade.
