Lions WR Kenny Golladay's fast start feels like distant memory

At this point, Kenny Golladay might as well be a memory.

Remember when he scored two touchdowns in his first NFL game? Remember when he looked like he might be the Detroit Lions' No. 3 wide receiver _ or more?

Golladay sat out his fourth straight practice Friday with a hamstring injury, and there's no definitive timetable for him to return from an ailment that's has sidelined him for more than a month.

Golladay, who's expected to miss his fifth straight game Monday night against the Green Bay Packers, first appeared on the Lions' injury report Sept. 27, three days after he played 45 snaps in a 30-26 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.

Since then, Golladay has tried to return twice from his injury, only to aggravate his hamstring both times.

He sat out all of practice the week of the Carolina Panthers game, came back on a limited basis the next Wednesday, then did next to nothing in practice the next two days after being listed as limited.

After the bye week, Golladay returned last Wednesday, only to sit out practice Thursday and Friday and miss last week's loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Lions coach Jim Caldwell offered no real update on Golladay's health when asked before practice Friday, saying, "He's working at it," and telling reporters to check the report.

Caldwell said Golladay has maintained a positive attitude during a frustrating last five weeks.

"He's got the right attitude, that's probably all I'm going to tell you," Caldwell said. "He's approaching it the right way."

The Lions, however, have missed having Golladay on the field during their three-game losing streak as their offense continues to underperform.

Golladay had four catches for 69 yards and two touchdowns in the Lions' opener. Last week, the Lions managed just nine points on five red-zone possessions and Matthew Stafford completed just 2 of 11 passes from inside the Steelers' 20-yard line.

"We have enough guys that can make plays," Caldwell said. "We don't wait for the cavalry. We got enough guys that can get it done and we just got to continue to make that happen."

Along with Golladay, safety Don Carey and left tackle Greg Robinson sat out Lions practice Friday, and offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter said the team is "going to count on" replacement Brian Mihalik "moving forward in whatever role he has."

Taylor Decker, who returned to practice Wednesday off the physically unable to perform list, practiced for the third straight day Friday and took some reps during individual period next to starting left guard Graham Glasgow.
