Lions worked out several defensive backs even after signing Marcus Gilchrist

It’s been a busy week for Detroit Lions defensive backs coach Brian Stewart. The team traded away starting safety Quandre Diggs and brought in newcomer Marcus Gilchrist, who Stewart is charged with to get up to speed before the Lions host the New York Giants in Week 8.

Stewart also had to help evaluate the workouts of several veterans the Lions brought in after signing Gilchrist. Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports the Lions worked out four more defensive backs on Friday:

  • Safety Micah Hannemann
  • Safety A.J. Howard
  • Safety Derrick Kindred
  • CB Captain Munnerlyn

None of the players were immediately signed. Kindred and Munnerlyn both have extensive starting experience in the NFL.
