Lions will hire Duce Staley as RB coach and assistant head coach

The coaching staff around Detroit head man Dan Campbell is filling in quickly. The Lions have hired Duce Staley as the team’s new running backs coach and assistant head coach.

Staley comes to Detroit from the Philadelphia Eagles, where he held the same positions for the last three seasons. He has been the RB coach in Philadelphia since 2013.

The former NFL running back also spent time coaching special teams with the Eagles. Staley played his first seven seasons in Philadelphia, topping 1,000 yards rushing three times. He finished his career in 2005 with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Staley will work under new offensive coordinator Anthony Lynn, himself a former RB coach. The Lions kept OL coach Hank Fraley from the prior staff.
