Lions Week 8 inactives: Darius Slay headlines the list, Kevin Strong a surprise sit

The Detroit Lions and New York Giants have declared the inactives list for their Week 8 matchup.

Lions inactives

CB Darius Slay (hamstring)
DT Mike Daniels (foot)
CB Amani Oruwariye (knee)
QB David Blough
OG Oday Aboushi
OG Beau Benzschawel
DT Kevin Strong

The Lions secondary will take a hit with Slay unable to go, but they previously proved capable of overcoming his absence against the Kansas City Chiefs. Expect Justin Coleman to step up and could potentially find himself in a shadow role covering former-Lion, Golden Tate.

Da’Shawn Hand’s return sends Kevin Strong to the bench, which is a bit surprising considering the undrafted rookie was Pro Football Focus’ top-rated Lion last week and Daniels is also out.

Daniels and Oruwariye have been out the last few games so this is business as usual. With a healthy offensive line, Aboushi and Benzschawel are once again inactive. David Blough will once again serve as the Lions emergency quarterback and is not active today.

Giants inactives

WR Sterling Shepard (concussion)
CB/KR Corey Ballentine (concussion)
LB Devante Downs
LB Tae Davis
OG Chad Slade
OT Eric Smith
QB Alex Tanney
