On Thursday, the Detroit Lions continued preparation for their Week 3 matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles and while they are healthy overall, Da’Shawn Hand and C.J. Moore’s participation levels have raised some eyebrows, and Rashaan Melvin returned to the list.
Melvin (knee) was injured late in the preseason and has been consistently on the injury report — save Wednesday — since. Despite being limited in most practices, Melvin has yet to miss a snap in the regular season and has played extremely well on top of it. His situation is worth monitoring but nothing to get overly concerned about just yet.
Hand’s elbow brace has returned to his left arm. Before we jump to conclusions about a possible setback, the brace could indicate he is actually getting closer to returning to action, as the brace will add more stability as his participation levels increase. Unfortunately, that hasn’t happened just yet, as he still appears a ways away from returning, but it could be happening soon and they want him to get comfortable with the brace again.
Moore (heel) was not spotted during the portion of practice open to the media which is not a great sign. It’s possible he had a setback but it’s also just as likely he was receiving treatment and could return tomorrow. His practice status tomorrow will largely dictate his availability for Sunday.
In positive news, Taylor Decker (back) and Jarrad Davis (ankle) continue to participate at practice and their ability to play on Sunday remains a real possibility. There is still another day of practices before injury designations are applied, but at this point, they look like they could be headed towards being game-time decisions.
