Lions Week 1 Player of the Game: T.J. Hockenson

In what could be called a typical Detroit Lions game, in that the Lions let this one get away, there was one thing to hang their hats on. And that was the play of rookie tight end TJ Hockenson.

Usually, opposing players are the ones setting the records against the Lions, but this time it was a Lions player making plays.

Hockenson set the NFL record for receiving yards in a tight end’s first NFL game with 124-yards. He also scored his first career touchdown.

Hockenson would finish the game with six catches for 131 yards and a TD. For his record-breaking performance, TJ Hockenson is the Player of The Game!
