Lions waive WR Tyrell Williams with an injury settlement

The Detroit Lions have reached an injury settlement to end the team’s relationship with wide receiver Tyrell Williams. The Lions waived Williams with an injury settlement on Friday.

Williams has been on the team’s injured reserve list since suffering a concussion in the Lions’ Week 1 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. The veteran wideout caught two passes for 14 yards in 39 total snaps. He has not practiced since suffering the brain injury.

Williams signed this offseason as a free agent after an injury-riddled career with the Chargers, rejoining Lions offensive coordinator Anthony Lynn, who was his head coach in Los Angeles. He signed a one-year, $4 million deal with a $2 million signing bonus.

Terms of the settlement are not public at this time. Williams is free to sign with another team immediately and it would not impact the Lions.
