Lions training camp: Day 2 participation report, Devon Kennard sits out

The Detroit Lions held their second training camp of the 2019 offseason, there were a few additions to the participation report in addition to yesterday’s eight absentees.

PUP/NFI list:

No changes were made to this list for Day 2. Flowers was seen running sprints and training on the team’s new conditioning hill. Lewis continues to sprint and mimic punt return drills, while Harrison was not present on the field after doing so yesterday.

Not Participating Thursday or Friday

  • DT A’Shawn Robinson (Excused absence)
  • EDGE Malik Carney (undisclosed injury)

At coach Matt Patricia’s morning press conference, he disclosed that Robinson reported on time for training camp, but needed to leave to take care of a personal matter. Patricia also stressed that it is an excused absence and the coaches are in contact with him.

Additions to Friday’s injury list

  • LB Devon Kennard (left after warmups)
  • LB Christian Jones (left during practice)
  • CB Marcus Cooper (left during practice)
  • DE Jonathan Wynn

Kennard had his helmet during warmups but after it concluded, he moved inside for a period of time, before returning to the field without his helmet. After practice, when he was walking off the field, Kennard told a member of the media that he was “alright”.

Cooper and Jones during the second hour of practice and neither returned before practice ended. Wynn started the day off without a helmet and did little other than travel with his position group.
