Lions trade back, select EDGE Austin Bryant with pick 117

The Detroit Lions were slated to pick at 111 in the fourth round in the 2019 NFL Draft but traded back with the Atlanta Falcons for pick 117 and an additional sixth-round pick (No. 186).

With pick 117 the Lions selected EDGE rusher Austin Bryant from Clemson.

At 6-4, 271-pounds and 34.63″ arms, Bryant looks the part as a down defensive end, but he operates better in space and from a standing position so don’t be surprised if he sees time at the JACK linebacker spot backing Devon Kennard. He was unable to workout this offseason because of a pectoral injury that required surgery so his QIB grade was incomplete.

The Lions still have the following picks remaining today:

Round 5 Pick 8 146 Overall
Round 6 Pick 11 184 Overall
Round 6 Pick 13 186 Overall
Round 7 Pick 10 224 Overall
Round 7 Pick 20 229 Overall
