Lions to name team for crucial third Test on Tuesday as changes expected

The Lions will name their team on Tuesday for the deciding Test against South Africa.

Warren Gatland and his squad took a day off on Monday to refresh ahead of a crucial week for the tourists.

Despite that, and the fact that Kyle Sinckler is set to face a disciplinary hearing for biting on Tuesday evening, Gatland has still opted to name his side early in the week.

The Lions team will be revealed at midday UK time on Tuesday.

Jacques Nienaber and South Africa will also follow suit in naming their side early - having consistently named their teams for this Test series on a Tuesday.

The only question that remains now is how many, if any, changes the Lions coach will make.

After the disappointing 27-9 defeat to the Springboks on Saturday night, there have been calls for Gatland to ring the changes, while alun Wyn Jones has already told his team-mates to expect a different side.

Wyn Jones will hopefully come back into the reckoning after missing the first two Tests with a shoulder infection, while Sinckler will need replacing on the bench should he receive a ban - with Zander Fagerson the tight-head cover in the squad.

Elsewhere, there could be possible changes in the back-line- with Liam Williams, Josh Adams, Bundee Aki and Owen Farrell having all been mentioned as possible personnel to bring in.
