Lions star Sean O'Brien sanctioned after member of public allegedly urinated on during Leinster celebrations

Ireland flanker Sean O'Brien has been sanctioned by the Irish Rugby Union after an incident in a Dublin bar the day after Leinster's Guinness PRO14 final victory over Glasgow.

after a member of the public was allegedly urinated on in the packed pub where Leinster players were celebrating.

Details of the incident were widely shared on social media.

"The IRFU have investigated an incident of inappropriate behaviour by a player which occurred on 26th May 2019" said a union spokesman.

"The player has expressed his deep regret and has been sanctioned in line with the provisions of his contract.

"The player has apologised to the individual involved. The IRFU, and the player, regret any upset that this incident has caused."

O'Brien, who has been ruled out of the World Cup after hip surgery, is set to join Gallagher's Premiership outfit London Irish after more than a decade with the Irish province.

A second incident also made headlines from Leinster's PRO14 celebrations - with an Academy player needing hospital treatment after being knocked out by a punch from a former player.

However, Leinster carried out and concluded an investigation "to the satisfaction of all parties".
