Lions signing C.J. Anderson to 1-year deal

After trying to poach Malcolm Brown from the Rams, the Lions have settled on a different running back from L.A. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Detroit is signing C.J. Anderson to a one-year deal.

Anderson signed with the Rams in Week 16 after Todd Gurley suffered a knee injury and was forced to miss the last two games of the season. In two regular season games, Anderson rushed for 299 yards and two touchdowns. He continued his success in the postseason, gaining 123 yards against the Cowboys in the divisional round.

His deal with the Rams was only for one year, thus making him a free agent in March. Because he wasn’t released and his contract simply expired, he could net the Rams a compensatory draft pick depending on the value of his new deal.

Between the Panthers and Rams last season, Anderson gained 403 yards on 67 carries, finding the end zone twice on the ground. He also added five catches for 41 yards and a touchdown.
