Lions sign WR Jordan Lasley, waive RB Justin Stockton

The Detroit Lions announced that they have signed wide receiver Jordan Lasley and waived running back Justin Stockton in a corresponding move.

“Lasley comes to Detroit after most recently spending a portion of the preseason with the Oakland Raiders,” the Lions said in a press release. “He originally entered the NFL with the Baltimore Ravens, who selected him in the fifth round (162nd overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft out of UCLA.”

Lasley was considered a high-upside project for the Ravens, and they kept him on their 53-man roster all last season despite him being a healthy scratch in every game — similar to what the Lions did with Brandon Powell.

Signing Lasley goes a bit against the grain for this front office as he had a history of suspensions in college. As our brother site Ravens Wire pointed out: “He was involved in a fight with cornerback Cyrus Jones earlier in training camp, (coach John) Harbaugh noted his release had nothing to do with the incident.”

He spent just over two weeks with the Raiders before being released yet again — we may have to watch this week’s HBO’s “Hard Knocks” to find out why his stay was so short in Oakland.
