Lions sign OL Luke Bowanko and QB David Fales, waive Connor Cook

The Detroit Lions kicked off the final week of OTAs with a couple of roster moves. Veteran offensive lineman Luke Bowanko and QB David Fales have both joined the Lions.

The team announced the moves on Monday as players gathered in Allen Park for the final few days of voluntary OTAs.

Bowanko joins his fourth team in as many seasons. He spent 2018 in Washington, playing in seven games and starting three. He has NFL starting experience at both center and guard. The 27-year-old Virginia product was originally a 6th-round pick by Jacksonville back in 2014, where he won the starting center job right away.

Fales was also a 6th-rounder in 2014, taken by the Bears out of San Jose State. He has played sparingly in three NFL seasons, last with the Dolphins in 2017.

To make room for the newcomers, the Lions waived QB Connor Cook and safety David Jones.
