Lions scouts check out prospects at Wisconsin pro day

The pro day circuit swung through Madison for the Wisconsin Badgers event on Wednesday. As confirmed by two other attendees, the Detroit Lions were represented at the indoor facility for the workout.

Among the bounty of Badgers hoping to get into the NFL, two names stand out in relation to the Lions: OL Michael Deiter and safety D’Cota Dixon.

Deiter fits the mold of what the Lions have coveted at guard in the likes of T.J. Lang and Frank Ragnow, tough and physical but also blessed with some fine-tuned technical adeptness. The 6-5, 315-pounder can play guard or center and also spent a lot of time at tackle in Wisconsin.

Dixon previously met with the Lions during Shrine Game week. The safety improved his 40-yard dash from 4.81 at the scouting combine to an unofficial 4.73 at the pro day. He’s undersized but cut from the same cloth as Quandre Diggs.

Others of note:

OT David Edwards

OG Beau Benzschawel

FB Alec Ingold

LB Ryan Connelly

LB T.J. Edwards

OLB Andrew Van Ginkel

DT Olive Sagapolu
