Lions release jersey numbers for free agent signings

The Detroit Lions have released jersey numbers for their free agent signings as well as any current players that changed numbers from previous seasons.

It’ll be a bit strange this season seeing No. 27 roaming the Lions secondary and it not being Glover Quin — those honors have been passed onto Justin Coleman for the 2019 season.

The same will be true of Golden Tate’s No. 15, which will be worn by Chris Lacy after changing his number from last season (No. 18), as well as T.J. Lang’s No. 76, which has been handed over to a player who could very well replace him at right guard in Oday Aboushi.

Other notable changes:

  • No. 12 switches from Bruce Ellington to Danny Amendola
  • No. 13 from T.J. Jones to Brandon Reilly
  • No. 18 was vacated by Lacy (now No. 15) and is now Connor Cook
  • No. 21 from Ameer Abdullah to Marcus Cooper (although he took that number from Abdullah last season as well)
  • No. 24 switches from Nevin Lawson to Andrew Adams
  • No. 26 from DeShawn Shead to C.J. Anderson
  • No. 29 shifts from LeGarrette Blount to Rashaan Melvin
  • No. 69 was Anthony Zettel’s last preseason but will be worn by Jonathan Wynn
  • No. 70 was worn by Andrew Donnal in 2018 but he is changing to No. 78, and No. 70 goes to Mitchell Loewen.
  • No. 82 shifts from tight end Luke Willson to tight end Logan Thomas
  • No. 90 was most recently worn by Cornelius Washington and will shift to the Lions prize free agent acquisition Trey Flowers.
