Lions Players of the Game: QB Josh Johnson and CB Mike Ford

There weren’t a ton of highlights from the Detroit Lions’ 20-16 loss to the Cleveland Browns in their preseason finale. However, we identified a player on each side of the ball to recognize.

Matt’s pick – QB Josh Johnson

Lions backup QB Josh Johnson made enough plays down the stretch to keep the game mildly interesting until the end. The 11-year veteran completed 67% of his passes for 137 yards, two touchdowns and a quarterback rating of 133.

This late touchdown throw to Isaac Nauta below made it a one-score game at the end.

Johnson certainly helped his chances tonight and looked the most comfortable he has yet in a Lions uniform.

Sonja’s pick – CB Mike Ford

A player who had a great showing tonight was Mike Ford, Jr.  He was everywhere, with five tackles, a pass break up, and a forced fumble on special teams. He also made a terrific special teams play, along with CJ Moore at the goal line field a punt inside the five-yard line.

Congrats Mike Ford.   You get an imaginary pat on the back!
