Lions player rep Devon Kennard wants more discussion on the CBA proposal

Devon Kennard is the Detroit Lions player rep to the NFLPA, which represents the players as a unionized entity. Kennard was chosen by his Lions teammates, and he’s one of the more respected veteran voices in the league.

So when Kennard says he doesn’t like that some of his fellow players are reflexively taking “a hard no stance” on the new collective bargaining agreement proposal passed by owners, it should mean something. The Lions linebacker wants his player peers to at least consider some of the new ideas.

Kennard did not elaborate on which parts of the proposal he liked or disliked. That is for him to discuss with his fellow players and Lions teammates when he has to present the proposal for approval to them…if it first passes the NFLPA player rep vote.

It’s a much more measured stance than some others, including Browns rep Jarvis Landry and Houston’s J.J. Watt, have taken. Could there already be dissension among the players? If so, we’re in for a long labor fight.
