Lions place WR Tommylee Lewis on Active/PUP ahead of training camp

The Detroit Lions have placed slot wide receiver Tommylee Lewis on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list ahead of training camp.

Lewis joins defensive end Trey Flowers (shoulder) and linebacker Steve Longa (knee) on the PUP list, but as we have already seen this week, players can come off the list as quickly as they’re put on. Chris Lacy has already been removed from the PUP list, while Austin Bryant, John Atkins, PJ Johnson and Ryan Pope were removed from the Non-Football Injury list (NFI) after spending just four days there.

Lewis was injured during spring camp and was seen noticeably limping during the final days of practices. Now a month removed, it appears he either still has some more healing to do or the Lions doctors are playing it cautious — which this administration has shown a tendency to do.

In OTAs and minicamp, Lewis was repping as the second-team slot receiver before his injury cut his participation short. In my lastest Roster Stack: 2019 pre-training camp edition, I have Lewis on the outside looking in at my 53-man roster projection, indicating he has some work to do in fall training camp, so the quicker he can get medically cleared the better.
