Lions place Trey Flowers and Steve Longa on PUP, remove several others

The Detroit Lions have placed defensive end Trey Flowers (shoulder) and linebacker Steve Longa (knee) on Active/Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list.

Both Flowers and Longa are recovering from surgeries and this move shouldn’t be a surprise after each sat out OTAs and minicamp in the spring. They are eligible to return to the roster at any time once they are deemed physically cleared by team doctors.

Before panicking about these additions to the PUP, it’s worth noting that Chris Lacy was just removed from the PUP after being place there just four days ago.

Austin Bryant, John Atkins, PJ Johnson and Ryan Pope were also removed from the Non-Football Injury list (NFI) after being placed there just four days ago.

Moves like these are very typical this time of year as players are getting physicals and preparing for training camp. With the opening day of training camp quickly approaching (Thursday, and in case you missed it, it’s now open to the public) more players could still be added and removed.
