Lions OT Andrew Donnal eats like an actual wild lion

Andrew Donnal is a Detroit Lion who happens to eat like an actual lion out on the savannah. The reserve offensive tackle revealed his primal carnivory practices in an interview with USA TODAY’s Greg Levinsky.

Donnal professed a love of wild game, namely deer. And his favorite part of the deer to devour?

The heart.

“It’s delicious,” Donnal told Levisnky. “You save the heart, thinly slice it and pan sear it – real hot – for 30 seconds each side. I like to do fajitas. It looks like skirt steak. It’s like butter. It’s very soft. The texture of it is awesome. There’s tons of flavor.”

He learned the love of hunting from his father in rural Ohio. Donnal noted being an NFL player leaves him too busy to take hunting trips during most of deer season. He does enjoy fishing with linemate Frank Ragnow.

Donnal is competing to earn a reserve tackle spot with the Lions. He played in two games as a backup in Detroit in 2018 after being claimed off waivers from the Ravens.
