Dec. 02--Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford has sold his five-bedroom, Colonial-style home in Franklin, Mich., for $1.59 million.
Stafford, 26, took a loss on the home, which he purchased in 2011 for $1.9 million. The property originally came to market last year at $2.15 million, but saw its asking price reduced twice before selling in late October.
The estate, on about two acres near the Franklin Hills Country Club, is entered through a two-story foyer. Built in 2011, the Alexander Bogaerts-designed home features large formal rooms, a chef's kitchen, a library, 6.5 bathrooms and a pair of two-way fireplaces in more than 6,500 square feet.
Among highlights is wood-paneled office and a finished walk-out level complete with a home theater, a billiards room and a wet bar. The master retreat sports his and hers walk-in closets, heated flooring and a steam shower.
Outdoors, a brick-lined patio overlooks the landscaped grounds. Elsewhere on the property is a four-car, heated garage.
Stafford became the fastest to 20,000 passing yards in NFL history last month, besting the record set by former Dolphins great Dan Marino by three games. The former No.1 overall pick has 3,333 yards passing and 15 touchdown passes through 12 contests this season.
