Lions' Marvin Jones leaves practice with leg injury: 'I'm good'

DETROIT _ Marvin Jones gave the Detroit Lions their first injury scare of training camp Saturday when he left practice with an apparent left knee injury.

Jones suffered the injury when he landed awkwardly after leaping high for a pass over DeShawn Shead in a red-zone drill late in practice.

Jones stayed momentarily on the ground after the injury as trainers hurried to his side, with one squirting a water bottle on his left leg.

Lions coach Matt Patricia spoke briefly with Jones before practice resumed on the other side of the field, and Jones stayed on the sideline for the final few periods of the 2.5-hour workout, rubbing his knee periodically throughout.

Jones, who stayed on the defensive sideline for the duration of practice, declined an interview request from two reporters as he walked off the field, but said he'd talk on Sunday.

Asked if his knee was OK, Jones said, "Yeah, yeah. I'm good."

Jones led the Lions with 1,101 yards receiving and nine touchdowns on 61 catches last season and was one of the best deep threats in the NFL. He, Golden Tate and Kenny Golladay give the Lions one of the top receiver triumvirates in the league.

Cornerback Nevin Lawson and safety Tracy Walker also did not practice Saturday, and wide receiver Teo Redding did not finish the workout. Walker, the Lions' third-round pick, spent part of the workout riding a stationary bike with some of the Lions' other injured players, while cornerback Darius Slay said Lawson was tending to a personal matter.
