Lions' LB Paul Worrilow out with MCL sprain

Starting outside linebacker Paul Worrilow suffered a sprained MCL in the Detroit Lions' 14-7 win over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.

Lions coach Jim Caldwell declined comment on Worrilow's injury at his weekly news conference Monday, but Worrilow is expected to miss multiple games with an injury that happened on the team's first defensive play.

NFL Network reported he will be out two to four weeks.

Worrilow has six tackles in four games as the Lions' starting strong-side linebacker this year.

The team has dealt with a rash of injuries at the linebacker position this fall. Rookie Jarrad Davis has missed the past two games with brain and neck injuries, and Brandon Copeland was lost for the season to a torn pectoral muscle in August.

On Sunday, Tahir Whitehead, Nick Bellore and Steve Longa played the bulk of the game at linebacker as the Lions (3-1) held the Vikings scoreless in the second half.

"If you look at the result, we played really good defense," Caldwell said Sunday. "You have to surmise that the linebackers did pretty well also."
