Lions had interest in signing Bills WR/KR Isaiah McKenzie

It appears the Detroit Lions put some real effort and resources into the slot WR/return specialist role in free agency. The Lions signed former Titans wideout and return man Kalif Raymond on Monday.

But prior to signing Raymond, the Lions also showed interest in Buffalo’s Isaiah McKenzie. In a podcast appearance, McKenzie revealed the Lions were among several teams that reached out to him as a potential signee during the free agency period.

McKenzie took less money than he was offered elsewhere, per his own claim, to remain with the promising young Bills team. It is unclear if the Lions made McKenzie a better offer than the one-year, $952,000 deal he signed in Buffalo.

The Lions pivoted to Raymond and signed the ex-Titan to a one-year deal. The terms of Raymond’s deal are not yet disclosed.
