Central Chidlom and Central Embassy will celebrate Chinese New Year with one-of-a-kind dragon and lion dance shows and spectacular art and cultural performances direct from China from today to Sunday.
The "Central New Year 2018" celebration will open today with a 149m-long dragon dance, said to be the country's longest dragon show, at Morakot car park of Central Chidlom, starting at 7pm.
Set to perform from tomorrow to Sunday starting at 5pm, also at Central Chidlom, will be a pole-jumping lion dance dual by two award-winning teams, as well as arts and cultural performances from the provinces of Hebei and Hangzhou of China. The line-up includes Bian Lian mask changing, a flying kite show, a Chinese yo-yo performance, acrobatic acts and a guzheng (Chinese zither) recital.
A variety of Chinese goods and souvenirs as well as auspicious Chinese dishes straight from Guiyang, the capital of Guizhou province, will be available.
At Central Embassy, meanwhile, visitors will be treated with many different activities including a display of beautiful flowers painted by Italian artist Arianna Caroli on the ground floor; Chinese cultural dances at The Balcony on the second floor daily from noon to 8pm; a photo booth featuring traditional Chinese costumes on the fifth floor; as well as a Chinese market with 20 exclusive stalls serving sweet and savoury Chinese delicacies on the fifth floor. Eathai restaurant on the LG floor will also offer special dishes.
Exclusively on Chinese New Year's Day which falls on Friday, Central Embassy will be hosting a grand show of 10 dancing lions performed by Yi Quan Thailand troupe and a double dragon dance accompanied by nine masters. They will perform at 2pm and 6pm.
