Lions downgrade Graham Glasgow and Mike Daniels to OUT for Week 9

The Detroit Lions have downgraded starting right guard Graham Glasgow (back) and defensive tackle Mike Daniels (foot) to OUT for their Week 9 game against the Oakland Raiders.

It’s not unusual for the Lions to downgrade players 24 hours out from an away game, as they prefer not to put any additional stress on an injured player who wouldn’t be available during the game.

Losing Glasgow is a big blow to the offensive line as he has been having a career year in 2019. He has routinely graded out among the top guards in the NFL per Pro Football Focus and is arguably the teams best run blocker.

The Lions continual rotation at guard was being implemented just for a situation like this.

Taking over for Glasgow in the starting lineup at right guard will be Kenny Wiggins and reserve offensive guard Oday Aboushi will likely be active on Sunday. Don’t expect the guard rotation to continue in this game, it appears it was only applied to keep Wiggins involved.

Daniels being downgraded is no surprise as he still appears a bit away from returning. Although, he has returned to the field for four limited practices, which is a very positive sign. Based on how the Lions have previously handled returns from longterm injuries, expect him to need one or two full practices before he is active on game day.
