Lions, Dogs hit with injuries in AFL final

The Western Bulldogs lost Cody Weightman to concussion in their semi-final against Brisbane. (AAP)

Brisbane are playing a man down in their AFL semi-final against the Western Bulldogs, who have also lost livewire forward Cody Weightman to concussion.

Key position player Jack Payne was subbed out of the match after having his head cut open during a collision with Lions teammate Linc McCarthy.

Versatile utility Ryan Lester came into the game for Payne, who was a replacement for Dan McStay after he was concussed in the qualifying final, during the second quarter.

Payne was not ruled out with concussion but instead for having blood flowing from his head.

But the carnage did not end there, with Weightman a massive loss for the Bulldogs after colliding with Lions defender Marcus Adams just before halftime.

Weightman booted four goals in an electric display against Essendon in last Sunday's elimination final.

But the Lions were a man down on the bench when Berry suffered a concussion in a tackle on Bulldogs captain Marcus Bontempelli late in the second quarter.
