Lions DE Romeo Okwara begins practicing for the 1st time

It’s been a long time since we’ve seen Romeo Okwara in a Detroit Lions uniform. The veteran defensive end has been out for over 13 months after tearing his Achilles in Week 4 last season.

So it’s a very happy occasion to see Okwara back at practice on Wednesday. Okwara took the field with the rest of the team. The Lions officially started the 21-day clock for Okwara to either be activated from the PUP list or spend the rest of the season on injured reserve.

Any return by Okwara would be a welcome bolster to the DE depth chart. Rookies Aidan Hutchinson and Josh Paschal have been playing extensive snaps, with veteran Charles Harris sidelined for weeks and Levi Onwuzurike out for the season. Okwara’s timeline for recovery has been relatively tight-lipped by the Lions to this point.
