Lions currently sit at No. 12 in the 2020 NFL Draft order

With the playoff hopes hanging by a thread after a tough loss in Oakland, the Detroit Lions are in a sort of NFL purgatory. At 3-4-1, they are not near being one of the worst teams in the league. But the Lions are also 2.5 games behind the Minnesota Vikings for the second NFC Wild Card spot.

If the 2020 NFL Draft were held today, the Lions would pick 12th. They are one spot below the team they tied in Week 1, the Arizona Cardinals, who are 3-5-1. There are three teams with 4-5 records who would select 13th through 15th.

This weekend’s game with the 3-5 Chicago Bears (their 1st round pick belongs to Oakland as part of the Khalil Mack deal) will go a long way towards determining if the Lions rise up into the teens or drop down into the 8-10 overall range. Detroit picked No. 8 in 2019.
