The Cleveland Browns are 0-8, but one Detroit Lions player thinks they're a good team.
Actually, make that a really good team.
"They're a good team, man," Lions running back Ameer Abdullah said Thursday.
Abdullah was asked what he might expect from the Browns, if desperation begins to set in when they visit Ford Field on Sunday.
"See, that's a narrative that I would never believe, man," Abdullah said. "Because in the NFL, any Sunday you could lose or win. And they're a really good team, statistically. Go look them up, defensively. They're up in the top 10 in a lot of categories, especially run defense I think they're top five."
True enough, the Browns rank ninth overall on defense and fourth against the run. They have a good defensive tackle in Danny Shelton and strong linebackers in Joe Schobert and Christian Kirksey.
But the Browns have struggled mightily on offense under rookie quarterback DeShone Kizer and have scored more than 18 points only once.
"So they're a good team," Abdullah said. "They've had a lot of first-round picks. So they've had a lot of young talent and they've had a couple games to play now, so they know what it is to play NFL games. So I'm expecting probably their best game of the year."
