Lions add WR Tom Kennedy to the practice squad

On Monday, ahead of their game with the Green Bay Packers, the Detroit Lions needed to add bulk to the defensive line and promoted nose tackle John Atkins to the active roster. In a corresponding move, the team released slot wide receiver Tom Kennedy. Additionally, they did not make a move to fill the available spot on the practice squad.

Today, Kennedy passed through waivers and the Lions have added him to the practice squad, filling the vacancy.

While the Lions only have four wide receivers on the active roster, they are also currently carrying three additional receivers on the practice squad — Kennedy, Travis Fulgham and Chris Lacy.

Kennedy brings a skill set that closely resembles Danny Amendola, and with Amendola’s susceptibility to injury, it may not be long before Kennedy is once again recalled to the active roster.
