Lions add Damon Harrison and Darius Slay to NFI ahead of Day 1 of training camp

The Detroit Lions have added spring holdouts Damon Harrison, Darius Slay and Darius Kilgo to the Non-Football Injury (NFI) list ahead of Day 1 of training camp.

At coach Matt Patricia’s opening training camp practice — in which he wheeled in on a scooter because of an offseason clean up surgery — he announced that the trio above would not participate for at least the opening practice of fall camp.

It’s unclear why Kilgo is beginning camp in this capacity, but this is not overly uncommon for Slay and Harrison after not attending spring camp. Patricia didn’t expand on why they were on the list, but it could range from an actual injury to just them needing to clear additional medical tests.

Harrison, Slay and Kilgo will join Trey Flowers (PUP), Steve Longa (PUP) and Tommylee Lewis (PUP) as the only players on the 90-man roster who will not be able to participate pending medical clearance.
