The Detroit Lions have added another training camp practice to their 2019 schedule: Family Fest at Ford Field on August 2nd, doors open at 4:30 pm ET, and the scrimmage begins at 6:00 pm ET.
You’ll need a ticket for entry into this event, but it’s easy to get one and it’s completely free.
For general admission, the Lions have provided fans an opportunity to acquire up to eight tickets by simply visiting their website: www.detroitlions.com/familyfest.
The Lions also released information about how to acquire a VIP option for fans willing to visit their sponsor of the event.
“Fans can visit any Southeast Michigan Ford Dealer now to claim a VIP Lions lanyard (while supplies last, limit 4 per person) which will earn them admission to a special reserved seating area, the chance to win autographed items and much more. A list of dealers and address information is available at www.thinkfordfirst.com.”
Additionally, the Lions have included “Family friendly games and activities” that will be scattered throughout Ford Field. You can find more details about these activities: www.detroitlions.com/familyfest.
From an on-field perspective, the training camp scrimmage is one of the more entertaining and informative practices of the fall. Last year, Coach Matt Patricia and his staff set the rosters and you could see a clear hierarchy throughout the depth chart.
So, even if you’re not interested in partaking in all the family fun, there will plenty of solid football happening as well.
