Lions 2019 offseason workout dates announced

The NFL has released the 2019 offseason workout schedules for each team and the Detroit Lions begin their first of three phases, voluntary workouts, on April, 15th.

In two weeks, Phase One begins and can last up to two weeks but activities are limited to “strength and conditioning” and “physical rehabilitation only.”

The players move onto the field for non-contact drills for three weeks in Phase Two, and they can receive “individual player instruction and drills as well as team practice conducted on a ‘separates’ basis. No live contact or team offense vs. team defense drills are permitted.”

In late May, the Lions will begin OTAs (Organized Team Activities) and there will be 10 practices/activities over the next four weeks, and an additional three-day Mandatory Minicamp June 4-6th. Once again, no contact is permitted during these workouts but teams are now allowed to run 7-on-7, 9-on-7, and 11-on-11 drills.

Here is an overview of the specific dates:

First Day: April 15

OTA Offseason Workouts: May 20-21, May 23, May 29-31, June 10-13

Mandatory Minicamp: June 4-6
